Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
One of my many New Year’s Resolutions is to read more. Continually learn. And finally in January of 2014, I actually STARTED this resolution. Plus, I told my smart, amazing, and talented boyfriend and he immediately retrieved five books from his collection. There are no excuses at that point. All are how to personally grow and develop, whether you know what to do or not. These should give me some direction, right?
I’m currently in my mid-twenties, and as I continuously read Facebook posts and Yahoo! Articles on how people in their twenties still can’t figure it out – Well, it’s true. I had no direction going into college, and have yet lost all hope in trying to find that direction now.
I gradually trekked through these books (full list below pictures), and although I have not found my “direction” they have all opened my mind and helped me to START with something, anything. Eventually my direction will “find me”.
2014 Book List:
I suggest that you read them, especially those marked with a star. And take from them what you will. But I would almost guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. How could you be disappointed in something that will only encourage you to think about yourself and the world you live in? What difference can we all make? Life is an amazing thing made out of energy and matter. It’s up to you what you do with it. Enjoy.
“The real purpose of books is to trap the mind into doing its own thinking.”
– Christopher Morley

Awesome post Kristen! Quite an impressive list of books you’ve read… nice! Thanks for your kind words too 🙂 Although you’re the one who actually took the books and did the reading….an option so many of us have but so little of us do. Your motivation to read more, know more, understand more, and keep getting better is awesome and inspiring. I the commitment you’ve made to yourself and not your “direction”. I truly do believe by you continuing to invest in yourself with all the reading you are doing, your direction will definitely find you. You’re awesome! 🙂
Thank you for your comment, Mike! Already excited for the 2015 book list ahead!
